Your Photos and Videos

Metadata Fixer is a desktop application that processes your Google Takeout exports on your device. We do not upload your photos or videos to our servers for processing.

The App does communicate with our servers for licensing, updates, and (optionally) diagnostics as described below.

Information We Collect

Website Analytics (metadatafixer.com)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. It may collect information such as pages visited, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser information, and usage events. Depending on your browser settings, Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies.

Purchases and License Management (license.metadatafixer.com)

When you purchase or manage licenses, we may collect and store:

• Email address
• License keys and related status (for example, whether a key has been redeemed)
• Purchase metadata such as number of licenses purchased
• Records related to paid plugins/entitlements (if you purchase plugins)

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card details on our servers. Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy policy.

App Licensing and Entitlements

To validate and redeem licenses, the App may send your license key and, in some cases, your email address to our licensing service (for example, to confirm a license is valid and fetch plugin entitlements).

Basic Usage Tracking (Demo Runs)

The App may generate a random installation identifier and track demo usage (for example, the number of demo runs). The App may sync the following fields to our servers: installation ID, demo run count, app version, platform, and (if applicable) license key and purchase-related timestamps.

Optional Anonymous Diagnostics Logging

The App includes an option to send diagnostic logs to the cloud to help us debug issues. If enabled in the App's options, diagnostic logs may be sent to Google Cloud Logging. These logs may include application events, error messages, stack traces, and operational details (for example, file paths or filenames referenced in error output). While these logs are intended to be anonymous, they may still contain details you consider sensitive depending on what appears in an error message or stack trace.

Anonymous diagnostics logging is enabled by default in the App and can be disabled at any time from the App's options.

In-App Feedback Prompts

The App may request information to determine whether to show optional feedback prompts (for example, your operating system, CPU architecture, whether you have activated a license, and the total size of files selected for processing).

Updates and Downloads

The App may check for updates and download installers. These requests are standard network requests and may include technical information such as IP address and user-agent as part of normal HTTP operation.

Support Communications

If you contact support (for example, via email), we receive the information you choose to send, including any attachments. If you share log files with us, they may contain technical details about your environment and your processing session.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the App, license management, and plugin marketplace features
• Process purchases, send receipts, and deliver license keys
• Validate licenses and entitlements
• Troubleshoot problems and provide support
